Keyword Analysis

There's all kinds of tactics, opinions and tools out there that claim to be the "goods" for keyword analysis. But one thing is vital to keyword analysis--you must be able to identify the keyword phrases that your potential customers use.

There's no two ways around it. To be found in a search engine by your customers, you need to think like your customers, and utilize keyword phrases on your site that your customers will type into the search engine.

I know this sound simple, but many times I find that the keyword analysis employed on a business site is really no more than internal phrases that a company uses. This is a mistake. If your potential customers don't know your in-house terms, then they will not be searching for those in-house terms in the search engines. Your potential customers will search by the terms that they associate with your products.

If you re-sell projection screens, for example, utilizing your model names is not sufficient to be found for projection screens. The types or categories of screens are what people search for, i.e., rear projection screens, front projection screens, projection films, etc. So optimizing your web pages for longer phrases like categories of screens are, not only more descriptive, but more relevant to your customers, easier to rank for in the search engines and result in more qualified customers.

One site that we can reference for this projection screen example that does a good job of keyword analysis and utilizing keyword phrases that people actually search for is a website for Screen Solutions International.

The Screen Solutions International website has category pages for rear projection screens for example, not just their model names on their pages. Then they utilize product pages that associate their model names and the type of projection screen. An example would be their Accent rear projection screen.

This is just one tip for keyword analysis, definitely many more aspects to consider. I tool that I have used and like is from Brad Callen - Keyword Elite. He goes into some other details in his free Adwords Made Easy ebook. Take advantage of Brad Callen's Adwords ebook learn more.

Keep on learning!
